The Full Story
When a small law firm in Denver needed a custodian’s email account collected and processed, it reached out to LDM Global for assistance. The Law Office of Doug Richards (now a new law firm, Richards Carrington) was representing an individual who had been subpoenaed for a case. The law firm needed to collect the custodian’s business records and emails and reached out to LDM Global on a referral.
LDM Global’s unique workflow and consultation leveraged a powerful eDiscovery software’s all-in-one capability from processing, to review and production. Because there was a relatively small amount of ESI involved in the case, LDM Global recommended using its small matter pricing promotion, which would utilize a predictable, fixed fee for the case.
Paralegal Dianna Matsuda said the fixed fee was well-received.
“I had no idea about fixed fee pricing. So (our account manager) raised it to us,” Matsuda said.
“We, at the time, were a sole practitioner law firm. Having that type of pricing was very beneficial because we did not have a lot of voluminous cases with a lot of documents. We have a criminal defense practice, so we don’t do all the discovery on a large scale like in civil cases. So this fixed fee for our small matter was very beneficial for us.”
Matsuda deemed the project and relationship with LDM Global successful based on the timeliness of getting productions out as well as the accuracy of the work.
“I thought everyone was very helpful and very responsive. We reviewed everything for privilege. LDM then processed and Bates-numbered the documents so that we could turn around and give the production to the government,” Matsuda said. “It was very timely, and from the time I told LDM to go ahead and get everything ready for production, they did it over a weekend, I think. It was also nice having someone like (our account manager) managing who always knew what was going on.”
